The world is flat

Untouchable: are people whose jobs cannot be outsoureced.

1. workers who are special
2. workers who are specialized
3. workers who are anchored
4. workers who are adaptable

Fungible: work that can be digitized and transfered to lower-wage locations.

NonFungible: work that cannot be digitized or easly substituted.

Examples

1. Special: michael Jordan, Bill Gates
2. Specailized: Machinest, Lawyer, robort operator
3. Anchored: barber, house keeper, non fungable..
4. Adaptable: acquire new skills, knowledge and experties create new value..

"learn how to learn."

You have to be skillfully adaptable and socially adaptable.

The more we push out the boundaries of knowledge and technology, the more complex tas
that machines can do. The more those with specialized eduction or the ability
to learn how to learn will be in demand, and for better pay.

Getting out of retirment lets get back to work today..

Where do you think will be the next big corporate technology investment?

Social applications will drive more infrastructure development in the next year or two years than the entirety of the ERP [enterprise resource planning] demands in the 1990s. Let me give you an example of that: We run Sun's ERP system on a 30 percent utilized E-10K, which is a 5- or 6-year-old computer which I can replace right now with a Niagara box.

Compare that with the infrastructure for our developer community, which costs millions and millions of dollars. So even within Sun we see that shift. Social infrastructure is going to drive the corporation. You will spend more of your time interacting with your customers online in the next year than you ever have.

What was the analyst expectation, and what was the reality as Sun went about open-sourcing all of its software?

The expectation was that after all software was free and open source our revenue would go down. Our revenue didn't go down, but adoption in the pipeline went up.

Fxm: The great Gasby book

This finally made sense last night which I have come to realize what Gasby wanted to get Daisy back which when he was younger he had ambition and saw himself as this rich guy. He knew he would be rich but didn’t know how. He meets this ray guy who helps him to establish himself and Gasby finally has the money to buy or have what ever he wants. Daisy becomes another item to add to his house. This will complete his collection.

They say he threw parties to daisy can attend one day….The main idea is that he had a dream of getting daisy back.

He knew she lived on east egg which he saw the house she lived in.

But did she really love him? She loved other guys after Gasby that is my question. I think she saw the wealth and she wanted in on it to. But, this was the only way gasby could win her back…

I have I done this with my life.. Yes, I wanted lily back, but I went to school to improve myself and I have and I have become a better person but sometimes I have that need to return or get back a time… I have realized that todays cold reality is great to know. I live in the present and I can’t change the past.. Yes, I pretty much understand Adam now. When, he said we live right now and here but he was trying to tell lily this.. I think there are issues on her side of fence… Yes, she doesn’t want to say, but I have come to realize and accepted them… I was like finally, I get it.. Yes, I am at that place of security today… I don’t know why I have drove myself so nuts the past couple of days…I finally understand…. That has been the goal all along… yes, I finally understand..

She is married and that is all…

But, the character in the book tom and daisy where careless they never took into consideration anything because they were above everything with money…so, I now understand this is really great.

Fxm: Reg Lily now

I have come to realize that she is a friend and I will never be able to capture the past but knowing her today is always what I wanted.. It’s great to come to terms and understanding what I wanted. This past year and today have been great growth for me. Yes, because now I know she is good. I will leave her alone which I have no need..

I am just happy to be her friend in what ever she might need. I will fail and sometimes I will come through, but at least I know she is alive and well..

Yes, that is all, I ever wanted..

I am a great secure place today and I have learned the most important lesson that she is only human like everyone else….Yes, that was the main idea and goal..

I feel great today, because I have grown spiritually and mentally , I have stepped over to the other side which I always wondered what would it be like if I take the risk. I have taken the risk and now I know… It’s great…

Now, lets get back to work.. We have a lot of things to catch up on and we have been asleep for about one year…Lets get out of retirement now..

Final update.. The L project finally over..

I read the book again and I found these highlights.. I knew it..
I finally understand and I have seen myself in the book.. How could I have been so blind.. Lily was everything to me when I was growing up. It really hurt me the worst when in 1989 I went to her house to try, but her whole family had moved... It was really hurtful, but I wasnt ready.. I have overdone it now... I have wasted my whole life for a dream..

their youth. The moment was so perfect and beautiful to Gatsby that he has spent all of his time trying to recreate that moment. It is this recreation that he believes will make After hearing this nick tells the reader of an evening Gatsby and Daisy spent together in him happy..

As nick says, “He talked a lot about the past and I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy.”

t is shortly after this that Gatsby says that "Her voice is full of money", referring to Daisy. This simple line clearly shows how tied the idea of wealth is to Daisy in Gatsby's mind. If there is any true love between the two, it has been preserved by Gatsby's lust for wealth and possessions and Daisy becomes another object to him at times. Like the green light, Daisy herself is symbolic to Gatsby of all that he can have.

When Gatsby opens up to Nick about his past, we see why he acts the way he does. He has a romantic view on what happened between he and Daisy and it is because of this that he tries so hard to get back to it. Whether it is real or not, we cannot be sure, but it is very real to Gatsby and that is all that matters to him. This story also shows the profound impact Daisy had on Gatsby's thoughts of wealth. All of his memories of her are tied to the glamour and richness of her life. The large, beautiful house and the fine clothing. It is more than Daisy that he has fallen for, it is the mystique of wealth that she has. He wants it as well, and believes that by having Daisy he can obtain it.

These people do not worry about paying for their actions so they do as they please. Tom is not worried about hurting Daisy so he flaunts his relationship with Myrtle, his mistress. Daisy, in turn, goes off with Gatsby without a thought to her marriage. Consequence is a unheard of concept to these people so they live their lives without thinking about it.

Gatsby

To understand Gatsby one has to look at not only his true life, but the life that he tried to create for himself. The truth is that he came from poor beginnings and created a fantasy world where he was rich and powerful. Even in his youth Gatsby was not content with what he had. He wanted money, so he managed to get it. He wanted Daisy, and she slipped through his fingers. So even when his wealth and stature are at their greatest, he will not be content. He must have Daisy. Yes, there is love. But more than that there is a drive to posses her because that is what he wanted for all of those years. She was part of his image for the future and he had to have her. And although Gatsby seems very kind, he is not afraid to be unscrupulous to get what he wants. When he wanted money, he was more than willing to become a bootlegger. His drive is what makes him who he is, good and bad. And it is this drive that ends up ruining his life.

The word careless also describes Daisy well. Many of the things that Daisy does, the accident with Myrtle in particular, show a woman who is just careless. She has become very much wrapped up in herself. Part of this is due to the fact that she had been spoiled all her life. She was born into money and had an endless assortment of men who would continue to spoil her. So she has learned to think only of herself without regard for the people that it may hurt.

Fxm:

This finally made sense. I have been wanting to get Lily back also which I worked really hard. I knew if she would come back with me that I would need to be educated… I did that and now I am.

But the book talk about the carelessness of tom and daisy. They were nothing compared to Gasby who wasn’t part of their class or culture.

It turns out that Daisy didn’t mind going with gasby she never knew what she wanted.. this is awesome which it blew me away when I read it…I almost fell out of my chair.. Now, I trolley understand.. I am glad I didn’t do anything stupid..

Good research info ... Please read it... Good info..

So here goes:

1. Stratify the neighborhood.Visit www.zillow.com to see the current "zestimated" value of your home. And get this: You'll also see the value of your neighbors' homes, every one of 'em. This could become an obsession.

2. Send a monk-e-mail.Jump over to www.careerbuilder.com and send a friend or colleague a "monk-e-mail" message, complete with your choice of a text-to-voice message or your own voice, recorded via a nifty phone-recording link. I sent my friend Vincent a message with the female monkey (the only female monkey is also the receptionist -- what's up with that?) singing the aria Un Bel di Vedremo with my own lyrics. You can imagine the possibilities.

3. Map the location of your friends.Zip over to www.frappr.com and set up your own Frappr map -- for your family, your fellow employees, or your old summer camp-mates. Just invite them to join your Frappr map and watch the individual "pins" appear. Your map-mates can add photos and "shout-outs" to their fellow mappies. Fun!

4. Publish your thoughts.Take a hike over to www.gather.com and publish a short story, some random observations, or a poem. You can invite your friends to see your stuff, or leave it up to the Gather crowd to comment. Read the top stories of the day and tune into the online-writer zeitgeist. A good antidote to too many budget meetings.

5. Investigate your bloggy popularity.Use the search box at www.technorati.com to enter your own name (in quotation marks) to see who has blogged about you, and what they said. Who knew your teenage babysitter had issues with the new drapes in your living room? Reading other people's blogs is also safer, from an employee-relations perspective, than writing your own.

6. Catch a movie. On www.evtv1.com they're showing movie clips 24/7, from the worst American Idol performers to the Chicago Bears' Super Bowl Shuffle. When you lack the energy to read any more text, a quickie movie might be just the thing.

7. Raise your in-crowd quotient. The popular dirt-dishing site Pink Is the New Blog will make you laugh out loud with its observations on pop culture icons and wannabes.

8. Get stuff for free -- or get rid of stuff. At www.freecycle.org, you can find a local group where some people advertise stuff they don't want anymore, and other people come and get it. You can post a message that invites people to pick up all your REO Speedwagon and BTO 8-tracks tapes, or announce that you're on the hunt for a gently used guinea-pig cage. Your choice.

9. Save at the supermarket. At www.mygrocerydeals.com, you can see which stores have the best prices on common grocery items in your town, and decide where to do this week's grocery shopping. This is the Top Ten Diversion that makes you feel grown-up and responsible, vs. feeling juvenile and shiftless. Think of it as a palate cleanser.

10. Peer down at your swing set.Google Maps is the coolest thing ever. Not only can you find your house in map view, and manipulate the map in whichever direction you like, you can also switch to a Satellite view to see your house as it actually is -- and yes, I swear, even your swing set or your car in the driveway. It's addictive, but it can leave you with an intense desire for a new roof.

Two or three of these side trips a day will broaden your mind and give you the boost necessary to get through to quitting time. Think of it as your mental coffee break -- without the jitters.
